@Gary R. yes, I'd have to agree with you. They're decent glasses for the price but they do fog up (stand up paddlers would probably find that they work just fine). I'd say if you want the best quality you should get Oakley Water Jackets. You end up paying a premium but I've never been dissatisfied with Oakleys...ever.

These sounded like a great deal for the late-afternoon sun, but as someone else said, fogging spoils it. I tried every anti-fog I could, and nothing works, at least in our central CA cold water. Spit on the inside works better than anything, but it's a hassle to get them off, get the spit in, then get them back on...and it doesn't last long. They're decently made glasses, just don't work for surfing unless you don't care if you can see.

Took a year, patience, and gentle periodic emails but eneded up with a custom board from Dave, THANKS MAN! out of Hale Nalu in Makaha. Well worth the journey, he replicated/reinvented an older aleutian juice I rode for ten years into a new mirror like shiney red board to match my 1970 VW bus. Instant classic board that turns heads every time I pull it out. It should last another ten yrs at least, and as a 7'2" I can catch anything from 1footers to north shore and west side double overhead with amazing speed and smooth old school lines.

I got a bog standard Tiki 6'2" quad with SF4 Stretch fins to get back into the water after many years out (I'm talking 70's here). Surfing in the UK it was recommended I start with a bit of volume and low rocker for easier paddling, ideal for a thicker smaller wave. In comparison to my 70's 6'4" single fin, this thing flies, but bottom turns can be a bit of a hit n miss affair, sometimes sharp, sometimes slooow response (sweet spot crucial), and snapping on the lip as well. I haven't experimented too much, apart from taking the back fins off once in head high stuff and it got way too loose (hilarious). I find I run out of face too quickly (too fast and looooong cut-backs), but I won't give up. I'm after a sleeker slimmer version for the smaller days, but til then I'll hop on the short thrusters in punchier stuff and when the wave's small and fast, I'll take to the quad. Definitely worth having one in the quiver to experiment with. Nice review btw.

Just once, I wanted a custom board. Decided Rusty would be a good pick. Rusty would be a good choice if you want a reproduction of a board that they already have/make. Rusty is not a good pick for CUSTOM boards. The communication with each other could not have been much worse. I imagine the sales rep you speak with needs to convey the info to 2 or 3 others in order to get things right. The custom order form you fill out seems to fall on blind eyes or none at all. Still make a great board but very little care for the "custom " individual.
